The regular summer festival dedicated to Roman actor Alberto Sordi opens again on the banks of the Tevere from Ponte Garibaldi to Ponte Mazzini. Stalls selling crafts, gifts and jewellery, places to have a drink and to eat will pack out the 500 metre stretch of river bank.

The Tor di Quinto park hosts the annual sorts event which lasts over the summer. There are eleven specialised areas and over 50 activities to participate in. Some of these activities are spinning, a skating rink, an artificial beach and pool, martial arts, aerobics and pilates. The statue of St Carmine is paraded through the streets of Trastevere and taken to San Crisogno, where it remains on display for eight days. This is part of the ancient annual celebrations held by the locals of Trastevere.

The outdoor Jazz festival in Villa Celimontana enters it's fifteenth year as part of this summer's Estate Roma festival. The Colli Albani marathon season for mountain bikers around Lazio's natural parks starts on April 20 in the Rocca di Papa- at 09.30 near the Federazione Italiana Sport Equestri. The rest of the programme consists of May 4 in Fiuggi, 22 June in Amatrice, 7 September in Montefogliano, 21 September in Fondi finishing 5 October in Valle del Farfa. There are courses of varying levels and it is open to amateurs and professionals.

For the past 10 years, the Miracle Players have been making the historical hysterical with theatre performances down at the Roman Forum. This year’s offering, “The History of Rome - Part I”, is a collection of some of the highlights from the past decade that have been collated into a new comedy, using Roman history as the narrative through line. As usual the play uses the words of ancient Roman writers to set the play in a historically accurate context, but don’t let that put you off, the Miracle Players are really funny! The Miracle Players are Eric Bassanesi, Denise McNee, Giulia Bernardini, Dyanne White and Rob Allyn.
